M.Ag.(2) Bashori, M.Ag.\ud Keyword : Scientific verses, methodology, scientific facts\ud \ud This thesis is a comparative study about two figures’ thoughts, Harun Yahya and Zakir Naik’s. This thesis uses descriptive method with qualitative data to explore both thoughts in relation to their interpretations of scientific verses. The sources will be focused in Harun Yahya’s work “The Miracles of the Qur'an” and Zakir Naik’s work “The Qur'an and Modern Science”. The research questions are: 1) What is the methodology of Harun Yahya and Zakir Naik in interpreting scientific verses in their books? 2) What are the differences of their interpretations about scientific verses? \ud This research is a library research. The sources are divided into two parts, namely the primary sources and the secondary ones. The primary sources are taken from Harun Yahya’s book “The Miracles of the Qur'an” and Zakir Naik’s “The Qur'an and Modern Science”. While the secondary ones are taken from other writings, research, information and other relevant sources.\ud The result of this research is concluded as below: first, the methodology of Harun Yahya and Zakir Naik in interpreting the scientific verses contains the discussion of their interpretation method and the characteristic of them. Their method of interpretation is categorized as thematic interpretation (tafsîr maudhû’i), because both have collected verses which are related to scientific facts (âyat kauniyah) and explained them in their books. The charateristic of their interpretation is scientific interpretation (tafsîr al-‘ilmî), because the verse is explained using collaboration between verses and scientific fact. \ud Second, this research found the difference between their study such as the consideration of determining the systematic discussion in their books. Zakir Naik had more appropriate order when he determined the classification of scientific verses in comparison to Harun Yahya. For example, he arranged the verses about pertaining to the nature of space under theme “astronomy”, as well as with other verses. Based on Madzhâhibut tafsîr, their interpretations are classified as tafsir bi ad-Dirâyah in the modern-contemporary period. In their books, Harun Yahya and Zakir Naik tried to return the function of the Qur'an as a book of guidance, to discover the spirit of the Qur'an
